Encouragement From the Heart

Kim Anthony

Kim currently serves along side her husband, Corwin, as Chaplain for the Miami Dolphins. In addition to her responsibilities with the Dolphins, Kim is a mentor to the U.S. National Gymnastics team and at risk high school girls in Miami. She also works as a freelance television host and reporter and uses her gift of communication to speak to audiences ranging from inner-city youth to NFL head coaches and their wives. Above all her undertakings, Kim considers it a huge privilege to be the mother of two energetic boys. When not traveling, she resides in South Florida.

Kim was a pioneer in the sport of gymnastics. She helped pave the way for other African American gymnasts. Kim first started doing gymnastics on the brick sidewalks of her inner-city neighborhood in Richmond, Virginia. Fearing for her daughter's safety, Kim's mother enrolled her in a recreational gymnastics class. This would be her only day in that class as the coaches immediately recognized her talent and placed her on the competitive team. Kim went on to become a world-class gymnast. She was a member of the U.S. Senior National team (comprised of the top 20 gymnasts in the country) and a 1984 Olympic Trials competitor. Her excellence in gymnastics made her the most sought after gymnast in her recruiting class. She chose to attend UCLA, where she made history by becoming the first African-American female to be recruited and receive a scholarship to compete on their gymnastics team. There, she became a six-time All American and four-time national champion. She again made history when she was inducted into UCLA's Hall of Fame in the fall of 2000.

Kim worked as a stunt woman in Hollywood and a dancer in New York before her dedication to fulfill her dreams in entertainment was put to the test after moving to the small town of Peoria, Illinois. There, she landed a job working at a radio station, where she gained experience as an announcer and producer. She developed a love for broadcasting.

When Kim relocated to Denver, Colorado, she decided to pursue television broadcasting, in the area of sports. Within a year, she was making her national debut with ESPN as a gymnastics analyst. She broadened her scope to include other sports and has covered the NBA, NCAA Division I basketball and high school football. She currently hosts the television magazine show, InSide in Miami, Florida. Kim desires to use her platform to have a positive impact on the world.
